Oh God!!! Disaster….

No friends….I am not talking about some natural calamity. Its just the cry of a girl who has stepped out of her door, locked her house in a hurry and forgotten to apply her lip balm… ;)
Its quite natural for a girl to think about the way she looks when she has to step out in public, even if it is towards the parking lot below her apartment. That is generally the way she is brought up or that is the way a girl generally behaves after she returns from an outing with her friends.

The other day, I was with my friends out shopping at a mall when I overheard two girls talking about Angelina Jolie’s pout!! It seems the pout makes her a Beauty Icon…I am still confused, does it??

I should say nowadays, boys too take extra care in maintaining their look when they step out of their respective houses. The only difference is that boys pay attention to this factor only when they are sure about meeting or seeing girls in their way.

One more instance that happened recently was when I was about to leave from my home, my neighbor’s six year old daughter was getting out of her house as well to attend her tuitions. Her mother was getting the door locked so that she could drop the little girl for classes, and that was when all of a sudden the little one realized that she had not applied her lip balm. I stopped for a second to know what the little thing would do next. No points for guessing….she made her mother open the lock, unlatched the door, rushed inside, applied some and was finally ready. She gave me a wide smile and her lips sparkled. At that time, I realized the impact of  how much advertisements, movies ,teleserials and last but not the least mothers can create on their kids.

I really hope in the next few years a scene like this won’t be created wherein the husband calls up 911,and when those guys arrive, the husband would have to say ‘Sorry officers, I’ve just never seen my wife without makeup before.’

Home is where the heart is!!!

My recent trip to my native- Kerala has been one of the most memorable times of my life. Basically, it had been an unexpected trip. Being an emotional person made me sentimental at the station, after all I was going to be traveling with my elder brother this time and our parents weren’t going to accompany us. (It gave me a sense of responsibility)

Brother and I were going to stay at my maternal aunt’s place for a few days. I would have loved to live in my mother’s ancestral home, but then since I didn’t prefer bats and other kind of birds to accompany me, I dropped the idea of living there. The ancestral home is kind of dilapidated now since no one has been living there for a few years.

As soon as the train entered Kerala, I saw myself leaning towards the metallic grills of the train to watch the coconut trees waving their pinnate leaves as though welcoming me.  As soon as we reached the station, saw my cousin and aunt waiting for us. As we proceeded to their place, Granny opened the door for us.

One of the things I hate about the people staying in Kerala or I would rather say villages, is that they have got a huge heart. They live with different kind of insects harmoniously. They have mastered the habit of ignoring creatures that crawl around them. And that one potential is something that I got to master yet. That reminds me of the scary spider that used to peep at me from behind the mirror every time I used to brush my teeth. At that time, a lot many questions would pop up in my mind like whether the spider has an ability to fly, or whether spiders are in general poisonous arachnids class(Something that I have never even contemplated when I had to in the ninth grade)!!
(This was the same li'l rascal who scared me :) )

Wall Lizards were an extremely common sight. Its like they are a part of every family there. By the way, for the first time I saw a frog that could jump n cling to the walls…I still recall myself running around my aunt’s place with a magazine in hand just in case the creature leapt towards me!!!

While at native, I didn’t want to waste a single second of my time. One night my brother , younger cousin and me went to the river bank in the moonlight n sat on the steps that lead towards the river. It felt real nice. A feeling that I would never get anywhere else.
The worst part of being there was the net connectivity. For a cyber cafe, I would have had to go kilometers!! Accessed my networking sites through my cousin’s cellphone and used up all his balance!! ;)

After a few days of staying there, started missing parents. I wanted to get back soon. Got tickets after a little bit of struggle. Finally reached home. I had a great sense of relief  after getting back. After all as the idiom goes “Home is where the heart is”…is so so true. J
